After the intense Constitution test a couple of weeks ago, and it being the last day before Thanksgiving break, I felt we as a class needed a little down time. (I know the students did too.) We went to the library and created found poetry using the titles of books. The students had to not only just use the titles in the poems they created but also had to build sculptures using the books so that their poems could be visually “read.”
Of course I cleared this with the awesome librarians because I anticipated that the library would be majorly affected by all the books that the students would be pulling off the shelves. (I was right!) The librarians thought it was a brilliant idea and fully supported the activity.
Here are some of the results of my students’ creative work.
