Return the rocking horse or go to jail

On my way home from Ann Arbor on Wednesday, I stopped for gas in Three Oaks and found these signs in the Dream Traveler store window on the main street of town. I love the innocent but utterly impotent threat of the sign above. (Could you imagine signs like this being posted in Chicago? — “Return my car or go to jail!” “Return my cellphone and laptop or get arrested!”).

The attempted foisting of guilt upon the thief in the second sign (below) is equally as charming and delusional.

Yes— rocking horses, small towns, and belief in moral redemption still endure.
