10,000 more times

IMG_5367I have to admit that doing t’ai chi (translated as “infinity”) outdoors is sublime. While you are concentrating on the various movements and the graceful transitions between them, there is a piece of your awareness that is also whirling in the nature around you. Today’s mist, cool breeze, and loud waves slapping the beach heightened the entire experience.

Somehow after learning the five movements of the “Gate of Subtle Origin”— “Grasp the Sparrow’s Tail,” “Raise the Lower,” “Lower the Elevated,” “Decrease the Overabundant,” and “Nourish the Insufficient” — when my teacher said, “Now practice that 10,000 more times,” I felt like I could dance like this forever.
