Wet and stitched light

Hard to see in this photo, but on misty mornings on my way to work before the sun has risen, the lights on the drive create a kind of quilt —the lights are the part that has been sewn with the puffy parts radiating beyond.

The lights transform the usually invisible air into a palpable swag between the lights. This fascinates me. I have to work at focusing on the road because the quilty puffiness is incredibly mesmerizing. Well, at 6:30 in the morning it is. The invisible becomes visible, the intangible becomes tangible.

Maybe it’s just a way for me to pretend I’m still in bed, underneath a quilt of wet and stitched light.
