This is what I came home to, for dinner, after driving through thick traffic, negotiating complex road construction and a heavy rain storm. Ah yes, homemade pizza: a margherita pesto using our garden herbs and tomatoes (top) and another made with prosciutto, goat cheese, and fresh arugula (bottom). Whole wheat crust, of course. All with a glass of Sangiovese. JB created the menu; IB was the chef.
When IB moves out in a couple of weeks, we are definitely going to miss his cooking genius and enthusiasm for preparing nutritional and visually appealing meals. The control, joy, creativity, and utter focus he demonstrates while concentrating on food preparation is almost magical. It has become his recipe for zen meditation.
With these scrumptious repasts, our palettes and family connections have definitely expanded, and yes, our waistlines too. I would have it no other way.
