Something orchidaceous

On a cold wintry day in the midwest, the perfect thing to do is something tropical, something equatorial, and, well, something orchidaceous. When the outside world is white, gray, and homogeneous, the soul hungers for color and inspiration.  So, a trip to Hausermann’s was the perfect healing excursion. Hausermann’s has over four acres of greenhouses just filled with orchids (no daisies or decorative kale, no roses or carnations)– just exotic, bizarre, and extravagant (and, oh yes, very colorful) orchids. Here are a few images from my orchid therapy today. You’ll have to imagine the humid, balmy, and heady smells which temporarily erased winter’s chill.

Did I mention we purchased a couple to bring home?….
