For $20,000

Last week, in a final game in the classroom of Mrs. Robinson, the question was asked, “For $20,000, would you go for three months without washing, brushing your teeth, or using deodorant? Assume you could not explain your reasons to anyone, and that there would be no longterm effect on your career.”

The 8th grade boy in the contestant’s seat said, “Well, yeah. What’s the big deal? $20,000 is a lot to a fourteen year old.” In fact when a class tally was taken, all the boys raised their hand to say they would be very willing under these circumstances to go for the money and all the girls incredulously responded, “Are you crazy?” In fact one boy said, “I do that already. Easy money for me, getting paid for what I already do.”

And I can corroborate that evidence. Especially in my afternoon class directly after lunch/ recess.
